about GOJOGRAPHIE
GOJOGRAPHIE is a group of community-based exhibitions that express the unique character of Gojo, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, with the theme "Terra, Flamma, Ars". The main program, the GOJO-AWARD Exhibition, will be certified as part of the satellite event KG+ of the KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival. In addition, the GOJOGRAPHIE Executive Committee will independently plan and certify exhibitions and promote participatory programs for local residents.
Gojo, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, has long been known as a pottery production area. Meanwhile, before the digital era, photography was also considered to be a way of "burning images." "Earth/Flame" symbolizes the earth and the sun, the medium and light of images, the earth and fire of pottery, and the body and spirit of humans. By adding "Art/Ars" to these, it expresses people's creativity and hope for the future.
Through this project, we hope to promote the individuality of Gojo, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, both in Japan and overseas, and create a new space for interaction that allows people to feel the connection with the earth and fire, and to experience human creativity.
Coming Up Next
The GOJO-AWARD will soon begin accepting submissions for works with the theme of "Terra, Flamma, Ars." The winning works will be exhibited in the meditation room and first floor entrance hall of the NOHGA Hotel on Gojo-dori as an official KG+ exhibition . After a selection by the judges, one artist will be awarded the prize and will receive various support for their work.
